Basic formula

Watch out: the present continuous needs both parts: a be-verb and a main verb ending in -ing.

Present continuous does not only mean this exact second. It can also describe something happening around now, over a longer stretch of time.

Negative structures
Add not after am, is, or are
I am not sleeping.
Am not comes before the -ing verb.

You can also say: He isn't playing.
They are not studying.
You can also say: They aren't studying.
